ChargePoint and Electrify America team up to provide the juice!
We're way past the tipping point. Now you can charge your EV with level 2 and 3 almost everywhere.
It's now possible for you to give up your fossil fuel addition because you can get your EV fix at easy-to-find and easy-to-use charging stations across the country. Two of the leaders, ChargePoint and Electrify America, will give you the same experience of using your charge account (pun intended) as simply as if you were choosing Shell or Exxon.
Let’s start with this: You’re buying a car because you need something to drive around in. Whether you need it for work or commuting to the office, getting the kids to school, hauling your groceries and laundry, or any one of a hundred million reasons – first and foremost it’s about purchasing a car. But now you can buy an EV with no worries about range or charging it up.
The Kia Niro I bought is part of the next-generation of battery electric vehicles and it goes over 240 miles with 100% charge. That took care of one concern people had about buying an EV. But I also found, to my great relief, that there already plenty of free Level 2 chargers in parking lots everywhere and a reliable number of Level 3 fast-chargers, where I could pay for a quick charge if I have to drive more than 3.5 hours at a clip.
Now for the bonus round. Charging stations are popping up like mushrooms and this alliance between 2 of the biggest promises to make life easier than ever for EV drivers. ChargePoint and Electrify America will be interchangeable with a single account for either company and the network already boasts more than 120 DC fast-charging stations at Walmarts in 34 states.
Within the next 2-3 years, your favorite brand of carmaker will be delivering at least one and probably several BEV styles for you to choose from. You can have great range and charging too. What's stopping you from saving the planet in a car you'll love to drive?
